Porch post details and unexpected delays

The cedar posts on the porch are so pretty! But those brackets detracted from the look. Of course, the Husband figured out a way to make them beautiful!

Isn’t it pretty?

However, on Wednesday, the Husband was on a ladder to do “just one more thing” before dinner. The ladder shifted, twisted, and fell, and the Husband landed on his left shoulder.

The shoulder is fractured, with a six-week recovery time. Thankfully, the left is not his dominant side, so he can still do some things. I’ll be done with school in three weeks and can help more then.

In the meantime, my Fantastic Parents came for a visit over the weekend. While we didn’t do any work on the house, we did get the garden beds ready for planting and cut up a lot of small branches and limbs for use in the new wood stove next fall — all things I was struggling to find time to accomplish on my own.

We think we have some other friends and family who may come to help during Husband’s recovery time. He is certainly anxious to get back out there to work, but he’s also in considerable discomfort.

Today is a rainy day, which feels like a bit of a blessing. Husband wouldn’t be able to work on the house anyway. I have the day off school, but I feel able to just relax a bit, letting the rain soak into the garden before planting, and allowing the weather to just keep me inside for a while.

The Lord makes all things beautiful in His time. We will wait in this time of rest and healing so He can do just that.
